Senior Infrastructure Solutions Architect

The Senior Infrastructure Solutions Architect plays a pivotal role in shaping and sustaining the strategic direction for Infrastructure products. This position involves extensive collaboration with application and engineering teams, stakeholders, customers, and vendors to assess new technologies and methodologies, ultimately leading to the design and architecture of innovative Infrastructure solutions for the broader Tesco Technology community.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and uphold architecture roadmaps, including managing technology lifecycles for Infrastructure.
- Design and implement new infrastructure solutions that align with business needs, prioritizing automation and security from the outset.
- Engage with various teams within Tesco Technology to gather requirements and ensure alignment of infrastructure products.
- Contribute to the development of Infrastructure as a Product.
Design & Operations
- Research and identify emerging Infrastructure technologies that can significantly enhance Tesco's operational capabilities.
- Maintain the product lifecycle roadmap for Infrastructure, advising on new technology integrations to ensure scalability and capacity.
- Participate in the Architecture forum to ensure that business initiatives adhere to best practices in infrastructure.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to create effective infrastructure solutions, understanding modern application development methodologies.
- Facilitate design discussions and present confidently to diverse audiences.
- Utilize knowledge of costs, service requirements, and technology to recommend improvements or decommissioning of existing solutions.
- Ensure that security and automation are integral to the design process.
- Work alongside Principal System Engineers and Enterprise Architects to maintain design and architecture standards across the Technology division.
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of infrastructure products and their integration within the broader technology ecosystem.
- Coordinate with suppliers to align their architectural roadmaps with Tesco's systems.
- Oversee the production and maintenance of high-quality HLD/LLD documentation by infrastructure teams.
- Stay informed about the latest industry technologies and supplier solutions.
- Foster collaboration across multifunctional departments to enhance enterprise design.
- Employ strategic thinking to anticipate future challenges and develop innovative solutions.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and take ownership of project responsibilities.
- Continuously update technical skills and track new technologies that could benefit the Technology team.
- Adopt a holistic perspective to address issues and influence decision-making.
- Encourage feedback to drive ongoing improvements.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

- Support the development of architecture and engineering skills within the team.
- Mentor and educate System Engineers and Software Development Engineers across the Technology division.

- Proficient in both spoken and written English.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert in at least one infrastructure domain, including private and public cloud, network security, and CI/CD.
- Experience in designing and deploying solutions for large-scale, complex global organizations.
- Employ an analytical approach to architecture, design, and process enhancements.
- Understand contemporary application development techniques and their implications.
- Facilitate the transformation of Tesco Technology's Infrastructure to modern platforms that can be accessed through APIs or portals.
- Contribute to the development of Infrastructure as a Product.
- Support business cases by evaluating technology products for their commercial impact on Tesco.
- Engage in commercial discussions as a Subject Matter Expert.
