Senior Infrastructure Solutions Architect

The Senior Infrastructure Solutions Architect plays a crucial role in shaping and sustaining the strategic roadmaps for Infrastructure offerings. This position requires extensive collaboration with application teams, engineering units, stakeholders, clients, and vendors to assess innovative products and methodologies, leading to the design and architecture of both new and existing Infrastructure solutions for the broader Tesco Technology teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and uphold architecture roadmaps, including technology lifecycle management, for Infrastructure.
- Design and implement new infrastructure solutions that fulfill business needs while prioritizing automation and security from the outset.
- Engage with various teams across Tesco Technology to comprehend their requirements and ensure alignment of infrastructure products.
- Contribute to the development of Infrastructure as a Product.
Design & Operations
- Research and identify trends in emerging Infrastructure technologies that could significantly enhance Tesco's operations.
- Maintain the roadmap and product lifecycle for Infrastructure, advising on new technology products to ensure capacity and scalability as demands evolve.
- Participate in the Architecture forum to ensure business projects adhere to best infrastructure practices.
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to create suitable infrastructure solutions, understanding modern application development techniques and their implications.
- Lead design discussions and present confidently to diverse audiences.
- Utilize knowledge of costs, service requirements, technology, and personnel to recommend improvements or decommissioning of existing solutions.
- Ensure that security and automation are integral to the design process.
- Work alongside Principal System Engineers and Enterprise Architects to maintain and communicate design and architecture standards across Technology.
- Possess a comprehensive technical understanding of infrastructure products and their integration within the broader technology landscape.
- Coordinate with suppliers to align their architectural roadmaps with Tesco systems.
- Ensure infrastructure teams produce and maintain high-quality documentation.
- Stay updated on the latest industry technologies and supplier solutions.
- Collaborate across multifunctional departments to advance enterprise design.
- Employ strategic thinking to anticipate future challenges and develop adaptable solutions.
- Demonstrate personal ownership and accountability throughout project life cycles.
- Keep technical skills current and assess new technologies for potential benefits to the Technology team.
- Adopt a holistic perspective to address issues and influence decision-making.
- Utilize feedback for continuous improvement.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

- Mentor System Engineers and Software Development Engineers across Technology.

- Proficient in English, both spoken and written.
- Subject Matter Expert in at least one area of infrastructure, covering domains such as private and public cloud, network security, end-user computing, and CI/CD.
- Experience in designing and deploying solutions for large, complex global organizations.
- Analytical and structured approach to architecture and process improvements.
- Understand current application development techniques and their implications.
- Facilitate the transformation of Tesco Technology's Infrastructure to modern platforms consumable through APIs or portals.
- Contribute to the development of Infrastructure as a Product.
- Support business cases by evaluating suitable products for their technological and commercial impact.
- Engage in commercial discussions as a Subject Matter Expert.
