As a Principal Engineer - Nuclear (EC&I), you will be responsible for ensuring that the design intent is met in the final product, while maintaining a strong emphasis on developing technical solutions to problems and ensuring that the associated safety case is adequate.

About the Role:

">
  • Developing technical solutions to issues arising during construction and commissioning of a Naval Plant Reactor.
  • SUPPORT OR ACT AS THE ENGINEERING MEMBER OF THE TEST AND AUTHORISATION GROUPS (DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE).
  • SPECIALISE IN EC&I DISCIPLINE.
  • AUTHOR CHIEF ENGINEER DECLARATION STATEMENTS BASED ON ENGINEERING REVIEW OF THE AS-BUILT/AS-TESTED STATUS OF THE PLANT TO SUPPORT ENTRY INTO NUCLEAR BUILD PHASE.
  • CARRY OUT NUCLEAR SAFETY ASSESSMENT OF SUBMARINE DESIGN CHANGES AND DEVIATIONS FROM THE SUBMARINE DESIGN INTENT.
  • ENSURE THE DESIGN INTENT OF THE NAVAL REACTOR PLANT IS MAINTAINED DURING BUILD AND TEST ACTIVITIES ON SITE.
  • PROVIDE TECHNICAL RATIONALE AND SOUND ENGINEERING RECOMMENDATIONS TO ROLLS-ROYCE AND MoD TO CHALLENGE EXISTING REQUIREMENTS.
  • PROVIDE AN INTERFACE WITH BUILD/TEST TEAMS FOR ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS.
  • ENABLE EFFICIENT PROGRAMME EXECUTION WITH ENGINEERING SOLUTIONS.

Requirements:

">
  • Degree qualified Electrical Engineering or Control and Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Experience of supporting build and commissioning of Electrical and/or Control Systems.
  • Demonstrable understanding of 3 phase/single phase machines; digital and analogue based control systems and mechanical interfaces.
  • Technical report writing skills.
