Job Title: Senior Equities Trading System Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Equities Trading System Engineer to join our team at Barclays Bank PLC.

About the Role

This is a critical role that requires a strong background in Equities trading and experience working on algo platforms as a trading system engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for effectively monitoring and maintaining the bank's critical technology infrastructure and resolving complex technical issues while minimizing disruption to operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support for the service management function to resolve complex issues for a specific client or group of clients.
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance tasks on hardware and software, utilizing monitoring tools and metrics to identify, prevent, and address potential issues.
  • Maintain a knowledge base containing detailed documentation of resolved cases for future reference, self-service opportunities, and knowledge sharing.
  • Analysis of system logs, error messages, and user reports to identify the root causes of hardware, software, and network issues, and providing a resolution to these issues.
  • Automation, monitoring enhancements, capacity management, resiliency, business continuity management, front office specific support, and stakeholder management.
  • Identification and remediation or raising, through appropriate process, of potential service impacting risks and issues.

  • Advise key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Manage and mitigate risks through assessment, in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Demonstrate leadership and accountability for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work your team does.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of the organization's functions to contribute to achieving the goals of the business.
  • Collaborate with other areas of work, for business-aligned support areas to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in Equities trading, experience working on algo platforms as a trading system engineer, and proficiency with Linux, Python scripting, and scheduling tools.

You will be assessed on the key critical skills relevant for success in this role, such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital and technology.

This role will be based out of our Canary Wharf office.
