About the Role

Cedar is seeking a highly skilled Cost Engineer to join our team in Oxfordshire. As a Cost Engineer, you will play a key role in driving improvement ideas throughout the product life cycle, advising and implementing best practice in the cost engineering team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Estimation and Analysis: Develop robust detailed and directional Should Costs (estimates) for complex commodities.
  • Supplier Management: Participate in the process of supplier selection and supplier strategy planning, identifying and discussing cost gaps with suppliers.
  • Cost Modeling: Support the development of cost models by commodity group suitable for anticipated production volumes, generating bespoke cost models to suit supplier processes.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and drive material/process/layout improvements to be promoted as product cost reduction ideas, developing process improvements within the cost engineering, procurement & engineering functions.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to drive improvement, develop and share cost engineering best practice methods.
Requirements
  • Manufacturing Expertise: Strong knowledge of low & high-volume manufacturing processes and associated commercial cost drivers, experience in developing electrical & mechanical commodities alike.
  • CAD and Cost Modeling: Utilize CAD modelling software (Siemens Teamcenter or similar) to support identifying cost drivers, experience in using cost modelling software to create bottom up should costs.
  • Tooling Cost Driver Knowledge: Understand tooling cost drivers, able to identify gaps in know-how, willing to learn and develop knowledge of new commodities.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, able to present logical findings to various stakeholders, demonstrate cross functional teamwork.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Analyze and interpret numerical data, reach sound judgments and recommendations, work under own initiative and under pressure.
