About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Marine Consultant Leader to join our team at Ocean Science Consulting Limited. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for directing and coordinating our marine consultancy services, providing expert advice on environmental impact assessments, licensing, and project management.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in marine environmental science, with a minimum of two years' experience in offshore fieldwork and at least five years' experience in the marine consultancy sector, including a leadership role. You will possess excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and manage personnel and teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on environmental impact assessments, licensing, and project management;
  • Coordinate and direct marine consultancy services, including logistics and freight management;
  • Assist with proposals, tenders, and vendor databases;
  • Quality control and supervision of databases, data collection, and report writing;
  • Contribute to marketing initiatives and prepare marketing literature;
  • Assist with supervision and management of contractors;
  • Technical, financial, and contractual management to client requirements;
  • Maintain strong client communication and develop long-term relationships;
  • Assist in successful project delivery and work within budget and programme scope;
  • Develop innovative solutions to marine sector challenges;
  • Prepare EIAs, HRAs, MMMPs, and client reports;
  • Line management and mentoring of junior staff;
  • Oversee training and knowledge sharing;
  • Develop and improve company policies and maintain ISO certification.

Requirements:

  • Legally permitted to work in the UK prior to employment;
  • Excellent communicator and project manager;
  • Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. marine biology, oceanography, or environmental science);
  • Minimum of two years' experience in offshore fieldwork;
  • At least five years' experience in the marine consultancy sector, including a leadership role;
  • Demonstrated track record in project management and financial management;
  • Proven experience in managing personnel and teams;
  • Positive and encouraging delegation skills;
  • Excellent written, numerical, and verbal communication skills;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office programmes;
  • Able to work on own initiative and prioritise effectively;
  • Genuine interest in the business and industry;
  • Commercially aware and able to handle sensitive information.
