About the Role

We are seeking an experienced District Nurse Team Lead to join our team at Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our clinical leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and guidance to our district nursing team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the district nursing team, ensuring high-quality patient care and outcomes.
  • Develop and implement effective care plans, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Lead and facilitate educational programs for basic, post-basic, and in-service training, in collaboration with our Learning and Development Team.
  • Drive patient-focused, innovative research-based practice, aligning with our trust's objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address workforce planning issues, actively participating in the recruitment, selection, and retention of clinical staff.
  • Provide support and a suitable learning environment for pre- and post-registration students as required.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and standards of care, maintaining clear and comprehensive records.
  • Manage budgets effectively and efficiently, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
  • Participate in research and development opportunities, contributing to the advancement of our clinical practice.
  • Assist with the resolution of complaints within the clinical specialty, or sphere of responsibility.
  • Negotiate and work effectively across agencies to maximize care effectiveness.
  • Be aware of and act upon procedures protecting vulnerable individuals.
  • Lead and implement the Clinical Governance Strategy within your practice area, facilitating clinical audit and monitoring of care.
  • Lead and implement the Risk Management Strategy within your practice area, ensuring adherence to processes.

Essential

  • 1st level registration educated to Level 3
  • Relevant specialist courses
  • Evidence of team management
  • District Nurse Qualification

  • Management qualification/courses and/or willingness to work towards

Experience

  • Experienced mentor at pre- and post-registration level
  • Experience of nurse leadership and management
  • Experience of appraisal and clinical supervision
