Job Overview

Surrey Downs Health & Care is seeking a highly skilled and experienced District Nurse Team Lead to join our team. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to our district nursing team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.

Main Duties
  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the district nursing team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and services.
  • Assess patient needs and develop, implement, and evaluate care plans within agreed standards.
  • Facilitate educational programs for basic, post-basic, and in-service training, in close liaison with the Learning and Development Team.
  • Lead and facilitate patient-focused, innovative research-based practice, in line with Surrey Downs Health and Care objectives.
  • Manage and coordinate the district nursing team, ensuring adequate cover and staffing levels at all times.
  • Provide specialist knowledge and advice to influence the Surrey Downs Health and Care strategic agenda.
  • Maintain clear and comprehensive records, adhering to procedures and standards of care.
  • Identify workforce planning issues and participate in the recruitment, selection, and retention of clinical staff.
  • Support and facilitate the development of pre- and post-registration students.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to at all times, and standards of care are maintained.
  • Manage budgets effectively and efficiently, ensuring the optimal use of resources.
  • Participate in research and development opportunities, as appropriate.
  • Assist with the resolution of complaints within the clinical specialty or sphere of responsibility.
  • Negotiate and work effectively across all agencies for the maximum effectiveness of care.
  • Be aware of and act upon procedures to protect vulnerable individuals.
  • Lead and implement the SDH&C Clinical Governance Strategy within your practice area, facilitating and instigating clinical audit and monitoring of care.
  • Lead and implement the SDH&C Risk Management Strategy within your practice area, ensuring all processes are adhered to.
Person Specification

Qualifications

  • 1st level registration educated to Level 3.
  • Relevant specialist courses.
  • Evidence of team management.
  • District Nurse Qualification.

Experience

  • Experienced mentor at pre- and post-registration level.
  • Experience of nurse leadership and management.
  • Experience of appraisal and clinical supervision.

Skills

  • Critical analysis skills.
  • Ability to assess and deliver, evaluate, and benchmark quality care.
  • Ability to deal with conflict in a professional manner.
  • IT skills and timely data entry.
