Compliance and Sustainability Role:

We are recruiting for a Compliance and Sustainability professional to work on a flexible and/or part-time permanent basis based in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing our statutory environmental and ESG compliance obligations, ensuring the effective maintenance of our Quality, Environmental, and Health and Safety Management Systems, and ongoing compliance with relevant environmental legislation.

The main tasks of this role include staying up-to-date with relevant laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements under current UK and EU environmental legislation, effectively communicating and disseminating information on applicable statutory obligations to colleagues, and managing our EU & UK REACH compliance, including ongoing monitoring of tonnages of imported raw materials and manufactured products.

Main Responsibilities:

  • To keep up-to-date with relevant laws and regulations and ensure that we comply with all statutory requirements under current UK and EU environmental legislation.
  • To effectively communicate and disseminate information on applicable statutory obligations to colleagues at all levels within the organization, supporting the implementation of measures necessary to achieve and maintain compliance.
  • To manage our EU & UK REACH compliance, including ongoing monitoring of tonnages of imported raw materials and manufactured products, liaison with suppliers and customers on REACH registration requirements, and engagement and management of external consultants to update substance dossiers and purchase letters of access (LoA).
  • To manage and monitor compliance with our environmental permit, including permit variations, liaison with and notification to the Environment Agency (EA), quarterly and annual monitoring and reporting of environmental emissions to the EA, and the engagement and management of consultants providing advice to the Management Team on the environmental permit implications of changes to processes and activities.
  • To manage waste within the company to ensure statutory compliance, including arranging collections, requesting, checking, and filing consignment notes, annual duty of care checks on waste contractors, and collating and reporting information on annual waste production.
  • To prepare Materials Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for new products and update existing product MSDS as required.
  • To maintain an awareness of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issues of relevance to our supply chain.
