About the Opportunity

Jacobs are recruiting for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Nuclear Power Engineering and Technical Services team. The successful candidate will support our key client EDF Energy Nuclear Generation with their nuclear fleet in the UK.

This is a key role within our project and engineering portfolio, spread across our UK network at all UK sites and stations. You will be supported and mentored by experienced project engineering management professionals within Jacobs and given the training and opportunities you need to develop and expand your project engineering management and leadership skills with larger and more complex projects.

Key responsibilities will be:
  1. Producing and maintaining engineering documentation including quality plans and technical specifications
  2. Management of technical queries in accordance with relevant processes and procedures
  3. Supporting the process of contractor selection and contract placement
  4. Technical reviews of contractor documents and drawings
  5. Carrying out technical appraisals of project options
  6. Performing feasibility studies, site surveys and liaison with designers and station engineering staff as required
  7. Prepare Engineering Changes and manage the preparation of supporting and affected documents
  8. Commissioning documents and act as test team leader where appropriate
  9. Supporting the Project Manager and Construction Manager in managing the project and ensuring the work is carried out in a safe, timely and effective manner to its conclusion

Here's What You'll Need:

Typically Chartered Engineer or HND Plus with extensive experience in electrical engineering. Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification. Candidates that hold a formal project management qualification and are versed in modern project management techniques preferred but not essential. Experience of Identifying, implementing, and complying with applicable safety, environmental and quality standards, company procedures and policies and other relevant legislative and regulatory requirements. Knowledge and experience of delivering construction projects under CDM. Ideally experience in managing and delivering electrical power systems design and installation projects; for example prior experience in working with the national grid and/or electrical supply and distribution systems. Strong communication and organisational skills. A background of working at Power Stations and Nuclear Licensed Sites is preferred but not essential and everyone working in our team will have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within an operational defueling environment whilst also looking ahead to future potential opportunities in nuclear new build or decommissioning and deconstruction. You will be part of a large client-led team at EDFs Dungeness B Power Station and will be accountable to the client Project Manager, Programme Manager and/or Construction Manager. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible, however the role will predominantly be based at the Power Station.
