About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate clinical psychologist to lead our Children's Eating Disorder Service (CEDS) within Somerset CAMHS. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to clinical practice and broader system change across the South West.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical leadership to psychologists and the wider multi-disciplinary team, ensuring high-quality, psychologically informed care for young people and their families.
  • Develop and implement plans for formal psychological treatment and/or management of clients' mental health and eating issues, based on an appropriate conceptual framework and employing methods of proven efficacy.
  • Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options, taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models, as well as complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes.
  • Undertake risk assessment and guide risk management for individual clients, and provide general advice to other professionals on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management.
  • Provide a consultancy service to Children's Social Care, acute paediatric wards, in-patient teams, local community mental health teams, and other agencies, regarding appropriate referral and treatment options.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with a Doctoral Clinical Psychology qualification or equivalent, as accredited by the British Psychology Society (BPS), and registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC). Essential qualifications include management training/qualification, training in neuropsychological and developmental assessment, and relevant post-qualification training in work with eating disorders and young people.

Desirable qualifications include experience of working within CAMHS, service development/project work, and working in multi-agency teams and multi-agency service planning. The ideal candidate will have highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological assessments and therapies for use with young people with complex presentations.
