We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialist Autism Mentor to join our team at Beacon Support Ltd. As a Specialist Autism Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting Higher Education students with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC) to achieve their academic goals.

About the Role:

  • Provide one-to-one support to students with ASC, helping them to develop coping strategies and techniques to overcome their disability-related difficulties.
  • Work collaboratively with students to build on their strengths, avoid negativity, and develop their confidence and organisational skills.
  • Support students in managing their workload and dealing with issues that impact upon their study.
  • Develop and implement tailored support plans, working closely with students to set clear goals and timescales.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in a field related to autism or disability.
  • Comprehensive training in adult autism, such as NAS 6 modules and SPELL course.
  • Experience of working with students in higher or further education, ideally in a mentoring or support role.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of students.
