We are seeking experienced professionals to work as Specialist Mentors to provide one-to-one support for students with Mental Health Conditions and/or Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
Key Responsibilities:- Support students to develop study strategies in a range of study-related areas to aid progression towards independent learning.
- Develop an understanding of the barriers to work, academic requirements of Higher Education, goal setting, time and workload management, exam preparation, and structuring of coursework.
- Undertake duties in line with funding through the Disabled Students' Allowance, requiring membership of a specific professional body and/or specific qualifications.
- Membership of a relevant professional body and/or mandatory qualifications for Specialist Mentor – Mental Health and/or Autistic Spectrum Conditions.
- Ability to offer both online and in-person one-to-one sessions.
- Paid on an hourly basis, starting at £25.05, including a planning and preparation enhancement.
- Opportunity to join the pool of staff on the Learning Support team and pass on availability for work.
- Send a supporting statement making particular reference to the person specification and how you meet the criteria for this role and your membership of a relevant professional body and/or mandatory qualifications.
- Include a copy of your CV.
Please note that applicants who are current students at the University of Huddersfield will only be able to work a maximum of 15 hours per week. Inclusion in the pool does not guarantee work in the future, and there is no obligation on the University to offer you work at any future date.
