Associate Practitioner

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Histopathology Laboratory as an Associate Practitioner, Band 4, on a fixed-term basis until 31st May 2025.
About the RoleAs an Associate Practitioner, you will play a vital role in supporting our Biomedical Scientists working in the Histopathology Laboratory. You will join a busy, dedicated, and friendly team consisting of Medical Laboratory Assistants, Assistant Practitioners, and Biomedical Scientists.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a range of healthcare science clinical/technical/scientific activities under supervision, including section cutting, special stains, embedding, and non-gynae preparation.
- Maintain clinical records in relation to activities carried out and may input/interrogate test results of others.
- May be required to supervise, organize, and allocate work and/or train less experienced staff in your area.
- Work flexibly in reflection of service needs, which may include an extended working day and/or some weekend working.
- The work of the service brings staff into constant contact with human body fluids, tissues, and hazardous chemicals.

Person SpecificationEducation
- Relevant Foundation degree, or equivalent.
Experience
- Demonstrable knowledge of a range of routine and non-routine healthcare science duties.
- Knowledge of Pathology IT systems.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
- Previous relevant experience of working in the NHS.
- European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent.
- Practical experience of working in a Biomedical Science laboratory.
