About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Histopathology Laboratory as an Associate Practitioner. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in a busy and dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of healthcare science clinical/technical/scientific activities under supervision, including section cutting, special stains, embedding, and non-gynae preparation.
  • Maintain clinical records in relation to activities carried out, and may input/interrogate test results of others.
  • May be required to supervise, organise and allocate work and/or train less experienced staff in own area.
  • Work flexibly in reflection of service needs, which may include an extended working day and/or some weekend working.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Relevant Foundation degree, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of a range of routine and non-routine healthcare science duties.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Pathology IT systems.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.
  • Previous relevant experience of working in the NHS.
  • European Computer Driving Licence or equivalent.
  • Practical experience of working in a Biomedical Science laboratory.
