Job Description

As a Production Operations Specialist at Siemens Energy, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our power generation assets. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires a strong understanding of power plant principles, as well as excellent technical and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and control plant operations on a continuous basis, responding to alarms and taking appropriate actions in a timely manner.
  • Perform Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance activities, ensuring all work is done in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Ensure plant availability and compliance with O&M procedures, work plans, and engineering procedures.
  • Complete plant shutdown and start-up procedures as required, ensuring the plant meets its generating requirements while operating in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Use computerized Plant Management Systems (PMS) to manage shift logs, fault notifications, work orders, and work plans.
  • Liaise with customers and external parties for supply and distribution of power and gas.
  • Respond to customer and trader routine and safety instructions.
  • Submit REMIT, EDL, and EDT information to accurately reflect technical availability and remain in alignment with legislative governance.
  • Carry out control system logic modifications and implement simulations to ensure plant safety and reliability.
  • Support and assist with the production of operational excellence strategies and concepts to ensure alignment with Siemens Energy and client business objectives.
  • Support Root Cause Analysis and Failure Mode Effects Analysis processes into site occurrences and incidents as required.
Requirements
  • Preferably educated to minimum level of HNC or an equivalent level of qualification in engineering.
  • Have a detailed solid understanding of power plant principles, including plant performance, efficiency, and environmental operation.
  • Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH or equivalent) and awareness and understanding of these practices.
  • Sound practical and technical knowledge of engineering, including applying principles, techniques, processes, and procedures to achieve safe operation and maintenance of the power station.
  • Power Generation/Heavy Industry and Power Transmission operational experience.
  • Self-motivated with ability to optimally prioritize engineering decisions and workload.
  • Sophisticated problem-solving skills and a solution-driven mentality.
  • Good oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently record and report plant-relevant, critical information and status.
  • Proficient in the development and consistency of Safe Systems of Work.
