About the Role

The London Borough of Merton is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Shared Lives Carer to join our team. As a Shared Lives Carer, you will provide supportive living arrangements for vulnerable adults in need of care and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide long-term or respite support to individuals with varying needs, including older adults with dementia, young people in transition from foster care, and individuals with learning disabilities or physical impairments.
  • Assist with daily living tasks, such as personal care, meal preparation, and household management.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with service users, their families, and other professionals involved in their care.
  • Collaborate with the Merton Shared Lives Scheme to ensure high-quality care and support services are delivered.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in caring for individuals with varying needs, either personally or professionally.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility, commitment, and a caring attitude.
  • A suitable living environment with one to three spare bedrooms and easy access to a bathroom/toilet.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in caring for individuals with learning disabilities or autism.
  • Experience in caring for individuals with challenging behavior.
  • A ground floor bedroom with ground floor access to a bathroom/toilet.
