About the Role

Grosvenor Casinos is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team in Reading South. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in the management and operation of the kitchen, ensuring that our high standards of food quality and presentation are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in the planning, preparation, and presentation of menus, ensuring that all dishes meet our high standards of quality and presentation.
  • Supervise and coordinate the kitchen team, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Monitor and control food costs, ensuring that we are operating within our budget.
  • Develop and implement new menu ideas and concepts, working closely with the Head Chef and other members of the culinary team.
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment and facilities are maintained in good working order, and that all health and safety procedures are followed.
  • Collaborate with the Restaurant Manager to ensure that all aspects of the restaurant operation are running smoothly.
  • Develop and implement training programs for kitchen staff, ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge required to perform their roles effectively.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent role in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent culinary skills, with a deep understanding of food preparation, presentation, and safety.
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a focus on quality and consistency.
