Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced senior technical underwriter to join our Pricing, Underwriting & Customer Analytics department in Belfast City.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing underwriting standards and acting as an expert in commercial classes of business in line with stated risk appetite.
  • Key responsibilities include setting and continuous review of risk appetite, identifying opportunities to improve products and processes, developing underwriting standards and question sets, producing reports with clear findings and recommendations, responding to governance and regulatory requirements, and engaging with reinsurance colleagues and providers.
  • The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant risk acceptance and rating environment, strong knowledge of the Northern Ireland insurance market, and CIP qualification essential with MDI or ACII desirable.
  • A strong focus on professional standards and results, with a track record of delivery in technical underwriting, is required.
What You'll Need to Succeed

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Strong knowledge of the insurance regulatory environment in Northern Ireland and the UK.
  • Experience of working in teams and delivering projects successfully.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and ability to build long-term relationships both internal and external.
Benefits

  • A salary range of £30,000 - £40,000 DOE.
  • A performance-related bonus (0-15% range).
  • Pension and healthcare subsidy (mandatory after 6-month probation).
  • 27 days holidays + 2 company days (one at Christmas and Good Friday).
  • 60% discount on insurance products after 6-month probation.
  • A hybrid working model, based in our Belfast Office, with expectations of working 40% away from home with 2 days onsite.
