About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cost Management Specialist to join our team at Turner & Townsend. As a key member of our cost management team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality cost management services to our clients across various projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in feasibility studies and prepare procurement reports.
  • Estimate and cost plan, including producing and presenting the final cost plan, utilizing relevant cost management tools and services.
  • Tender and procure, including managing the pre-qualification stage, producing the tender list, producing the preliminaries, tender analysis, producing the tender report, and compiling the contractual documents.
  • Conduct contract administration, including dealing effectively with post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
  • Take personal responsibility for making cost checks and carrying out valuations on larger projects.
  • Produce monthly post-contract cost reports and present them to clients.
  • Contribute to value engineering.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts.
  • Interface with clients, project managers, and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Collaborate with the project management team during project delivery.
  • Lead a cost management team, ensuring they deliver on all accountabilities.
  • Utilize our full suite of bespoke digital cost management tools and services.
  • Implement our Embodied Carbon Calculator to produce carbon footprint reports.
  • Support the execution of our NewLeaf strategy.
  • Manage internal fees, internal job costing, and resourcing requirements.
Marketing and Business Development
  • Identify opportunities to develop new business with existing clients and report such opportunities to the appropriate line manager.
  • Develop and maintain a professional network of peers and potential clients.
  • Assist in the production of bid documentation.
  • Identify ways to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities, including external groups and networking events.
Internal Management Accountabilities
  • Knowledge management: Ensure key information and learning generated from each commission is input into the Turner & Townsend internal database.
  • Process improvement: Identify ways to improve internal systems and processes and refer ideas to the appropriate line manager.
  • Assist in the support, development, and mentorship of junior staff members.
Reporting and Performance Indicators

A Cost Management Specialist will be assessed based on the extent to which:

  • Commissions are managed to the right quality standards and completed efficiently and on time.
  • Service delivery on commissions is in line with the conditions of appointment.
  • Good relationships are developed with clients and members of the cross-functional team.
  • They work as an effective member of the cost management team.
  • Opportunities are identified to develop new business with existing clients.
  • Margins are kept track of on all commissions.
  • Key information and data are effectively cascaded and retained.
