Job Title: Public Law Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated Solicitor to join our team at the Scottish Government Legal Directorate. As a Public Law Specialist, you will be working on vital private law issues, particularly leases, and will have the opportunity to deepen your expertise across a broad spectrum of public law.

Key Responsibilities:

Work on Part 2 of the Land Reform Bill, focusing on small landholdings legislation.
Instruct on new pre-emptive rights to buy small landholdings.
Advise on community rights to buy, including evaluating applications and making recommendations to Ministers.
Contribute to the review of community right to buy legislation, informing future reforms.
Engage in high-profile Parliamentary work, balancing public interests with the rights of landlords and tenants.

Requirements:

A motivated Solicitor with experience in Bills, legislation, property, or litigation.
Ability to work closely with policy colleagues and contribute to the review of community right to buy legislation.

Benefits:

Hybrid working arrangement with a minimum of 1 day in office per week.
Salary starting from £57,141, with a negotiable day rate of £294.21.
Opportunity to work on high-profile cases and contribute to the development of public law.
