About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Perfusion Therapy Expert to join our team at the University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust. As a Clinical Perfusionist, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality care to patients undergoing cardiac surgery.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Preparing Equipment: Ensure all necessary equipment and disposable items are prepared for cardiopulmonary bypass procedures.
  2. Maintaining Patient Safety: Operate the heart-lung machine and auxiliary equipment, maintaining patient physiological parameters during cardiopulmonary bypass. Take corrective action as needed to address changing conditions.
  3. Supporting Procedures: Prepare equipment and disposables for autologous blood salvage procedures, both intra and post-operatively, for cardiac and other surgical specialties.
  4. Interpreting Diagnostic Results: Undertake and interpret blood gas analysis, thromboelastography testing, including platelet mapping and fibrinogen analysis when necessary.
  5. Ensuring Safety: Set up and operate relevant monitoring and safety devices, ensuring patient safety at all times.
  6. Specializing in Procedures: Prepare and operate equipment and disposables for vacuum-assisted venous drainage and carbon dioxide flushing of the operative field.
  7. Contributing to Training: Participate in research and development projects, assisting in their initiation and control. Conduct informal in-service and external formal educational sessions with other perfusionists, nursing, and medical staff as required.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Full UK Registration CCPS (Clinical Certificates in Perfusion Sciences)
  • Experience: Experience in independent working and fulfilling a 24/7 on-call rota.
Salary and Benefits:

The successful candidate can expect a competitive salary of £50,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience. We also offer flexible working arrangements, commitment to equality of opportunity, and support for continuous professional development.
