About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Claims Handler to join our Fleet and Specialist product team at Acorn Insurance & Financial Services LTD. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for proactively managing a portfolio of Fleet and Specialist products in motor claims from start to settlement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Validate all claims for indemnity and fraud, ensuring accurate and timely decision-making.
  • Assess liability and communicate our decision to claimants or representatives, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Establish our exposure in respect of all Heads of Damage, ensuring key information is obtained and updated on the claim file.
  • Accurately assess quantum claims presented using relevant tools and resources.
  • Identify opportunities to minimize indemnity spend through commercial decision-making.
  • Proactively manage diaries to monitor and progress cases, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Apply and investigate to ensure accurate reserves in line with company guidelines.
  • Accountable for own performance against set objectives, adhering to best practice and key strategies.
  • Effectively manage files and portfolios, ensuring seamless case progression.
  • Assist with coaching and mentoring of less experienced handlers, promoting knowledge sharing and development.
Requirements
  • Strong insurance background with a working knowledge of indemnity.
  • Persuasive and confident communicator with excellent relationship management skills.
  • Ability to use own initiative to explore all options and achieve the best outcome for the business.
  • Motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, promoting a culture of openness, trust, and respect.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple cases.
  • Ability to fact-find and analyze information to result in accurate decision-making.
  • Significant PI and/or credit hire claims experience, commercial market awareness, and extensive working knowledge of the Pre-Action Protocol, Civil Procedure Rules & hourly rate costs.
  • Experience of handling Injury claims outside of the Low Value Personal Injury claims Portal.
