Mental Health Support Specialist

We are seeking compassionate and experienced Mental Health Support Specialists to join our growing team at our new service in Peckham.

Your Role:
  • Provide personalized support to residents with a range of mental health needs, assisting them in developing life skills, managing their well-being, and achieving their aspirations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Unit Team Leader and Group Manager to ensure the delivery of effective and resident-focused care.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand residents' individual needs and develop tailored support plans that promote their recovery and independence.
  • Implement and monitor support plans, ensuring they are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) and evidence progress towards desired outcomes.
  • Foster a positive and supportive environment by building strong relationships with residents, promoting their engagement in activities, and encouraging their active participation in decision-making processes.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, social workers, and other support agencies, to ensure holistic care for residents.
  • Facilitate referrals to appropriate resources and services, supporting residents in accessing the necessary assistance to meet their needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.
About You:
  • Demonstrate a genuine passion for working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges and a commitment to their well-being.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the issues faced by people with mental health needs and experience in providing person-centered support.
  • Exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with residents.
  • Be organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Have a commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices in mental health care.
