Key Responsibilities
  • Procure service records and enquiries for new developments, including timely payment for new services infrastructure.
  • Oversee the design and detailing of externally appointed Consulting Engineers, ensuring adherence to best practice in value engineering.
  • Secure adoption agreements and obtain designs for foundations and superstructure components.
  • Maintain a continuous process of evaluation of Consultant's designs to ensure value engineering.
  • Review and coordinate all engineering tender and construction documents.
  • Liaise with other Technical Team members to discharge building regulations and planning conditions.
  • Coordinate the delivery of technical information for new and current developments.
  • Preparation of Health and Safety documentation in line with Vistry standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure consultants design cost-effective solutions in civil and structural designs.
  • Check all drawings supplied by consultants in relation to Civil Engineering aspects of developments.
  • Make Bond applications to the NHBC and discharge outstanding NHBC Engineering conditions.
  • Assist site teams with engineering queries and liaise with Construction Department to ensure timely completion of legal agreements.
  • Work cooperatively with statutory undertakers and regional local highway authorities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree (BEng), or Masters degree in Civil Engineering (MEng), or equivalent qualifications.
  • Experience working within a residential house builder or relevant consultancy.
  • In-depth knowledge of the engineering function and its delivery.
  • Knowledge of engineering packages (Geosite, Smart Engineer, Autotrack, Microdrainage, PDS).
  • Understanding of changes to regulations and legislation.
  • Strong mathematical and IT ability.
  • Able to analyse complex data and critically evaluate plans.
  • Good decision-making skills.
  • Good understanding of budget management.
  • A good communicator and listener.
  • Able to visualise and explain design ideas.
  • Good team working skills.
  • Able to work under pressure.
  • Able to work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • A methodical approach to working practices.
  • Decision maker with pragmatic approach to problem solving.
