Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Effectiveness Clinical Lead to join our team in North West London. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a systematic evidence-based approach to quality improvement across North West London, to help improve health outcomes for local residents across the entire Integrated Care System (ICS).

The Clinical Effectiveness Clinical Lead will work closely with the Head of Clinical Effectiveness and the NWL Borough Clinical Effectiveness Clinical Leads to drive forward the development, implementation, and delivery of a programme of clinical effectiveness. This will involve leading engagement with NWL and borough teams, providing clinical oversight of the Clinical Effectiveness group and resource development, and driving and instilling a Quality Improvement culture.

Main Duties of the Job

The Clinical Effectiveness Clinical Lead will be responsible for:
  1. Strategic planning of the Clinical Effectiveness priorities
  2. Structure for development and implementation of specific programme guidelines
  3. Leading engagement with NWL and borough teams
  4. Clinical oversight of the Clinical Effectiveness group and resource development
  5. Driving and instilling a Quality Improvement culture
  6. Collaborating with clinical reference groups in the development of usable and focused clinical guidelines and tools for busy frontline clinicians
  7. Interpreting data produced by the analytics team and leading development of actionable insights
  8. Championing improvements in health equity through the CE programme
  9. Providing expertise and ICS-based leadership across the clinical effectiveness team in shaping and delivery a systematic approach to quality improvement, ensuring national and local best practice is translated and embedded via a range of resources and methods
  10. Working with the NWL Borough Clinical Effectiveness Clinical Leads and CE Steering Group members to prioritise the population and clinical focus workstream of the programme
  11. Informing, steering, and delivering the local development and utilisation of these quality improvement methods and tools
  12. Collaborating with both the NWL Borough Clinical Effectiveness Clinical Leads and other local clinical leaders to understand and describe process and systems challenges, to inform an effective approach to facilitating quality improvements across primary care
  13. Informing, designing, leading, and delivering education and training for primary care
  14. Working closely with clinical leaders across acute and other specialist departments to inform, localise, and enhance quality improvement functions
  15. Interpreting analysis and describing how these relate to local incentives and inform strategic priorities
  16. Working closely with PCN leaders to embed best practices at borough-level
  17. Providing peer-to-peer support to primary care colleagues across NWL
  18. Providing regular updates to the CE Steering Group, in a form that is useful to filter into both Federation/PCNs and ICS boards/committees
  19. Working closely with CE Facilitators to provide local clinical expertise to tailor support to PCNs and individual practices
  20. Developing facilitation support packs to empower CE Facilitators to provide practice-based support to primary care teams
  21. Collaborating with workstreams across other sectors (e.g. Diabetes workshops via the ICS)
Person Specification

Experience

Essential
  • Practising clinician in North West London.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
  • If an applicant is non-UK trained, they will be required to show evidence of UK-approved training.
  • Relevant clinical qualification.
  • Relevant clinical experience in primary care and leadership.
  • Experience of building productive and collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, working creatively toward shared goals.
  • Demonstrable track record of delivery in service and education.
  • Ability to foster quality improvement within clinical practice.
Desirable
  • Experience of project work focusing on benefits realisation and supporting transformational change.
  • Experience in liaising with NHS trusts, community organisations, medical schools, and other partners and providers in leadership roles.
  • Experience of clinical and educational leadership and innovation, including managing a multi-professional team.
  • Trained and experienced in recruitment, selection, and Equality and Diversity in the last 3 years.
  • Experience of leading on clinical recruitment campaigns.
  • Awareness and understanding of the healthcare landscape in North West London.
  • Good professional relationships at place level
