Job Role
We are seeking an Education Engagement Officer (Absence Monitoring) who shares our passion for keeping children and young people at the heart of everything we do, providing a good education for all, and acting in a professional and timely way to protect children from harm whilst supporting and embracing inclusivity and diversity.
This includes identifying children who are unable to attend school due to exclusion, medical needs or other reasons, or on a part-time timetable, monitoring participation of the Post 16 cohort, providing careers advice and guidance to the NEET group, identifying children missing education or elective home education, and provision of Child Entertainment and Employment licenses.
The successful candidate will support the Education Absence Monitoring Officers and collaborate with the rest of the team, other services (both internally and externally), and schools to ensure that those children not in education or not receiving a full-time suitable education are identified and where appropriate prepared for discussion at the weekly CCAS panel, whilst proactively contributing to the continuous improvement of the service.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring attendance patterns and identifying trends
- Collaborating with Local Area partners, educational providers, and colleagues across WCF to improve outcomes for Vulnerable Learners
- Working with schools to develop strategies to reduce absence and improve attendance
- Providing guidance and support to parents and carers to help them understand the importance of regular attendance
- Conducting regular reviews and assessments to monitor progress and identify areas for improvement
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A working knowledge or awareness of legislation and guidance relating to attendance and CME
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
