Mental Health Practitioner for Children and Young People

We are seeking an experienced mental health professional to join our established Home Treatment Team in Torquay and cover the Torbay region. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in assessing and care planning with patients experiencing high levels of distress and at risk of needing hospital admission.
Key Responsibilities- Liaise with internal and external agencies to ensure safe care planning.
- Work within the service to support close links with primary care, 3rd sector, and community mental health teams as part of the Community Mental Health Framework.

Requirements- Extensive post-registration experience working at band 5 in mental health care, with experience in at least two inpatient and one community settings.
- Substantial experience of managing a busy caseload of clients with a range of mental health conditions within a community setting.
- Experience of clinically supervising junior and unqualified staff and mentoring students.
- A professional mental health qualification, such as RMN, Social Work Degree, or equivalent.
- Evidence of relevant continuing professional development.
- Training to level 3 in Safeguarding children and young people: roles and competencies for Health Care staff.
- An understanding of the NSF and Mental Health Act/Mental Health Capacity Act requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to engage with clients experiencing a wide range of mental health problems.
- Ability to manage risk and plan creatively to maximise effectiveness of care plans.
