Key Responsibilities
  • Deputising for the Chef Manager: You will be responsible for managing every aspect of catering within the location, ensuring that our residents receive a consistently high-quality service.
  • Supervising Catering Assistants: You will be responsible for supervising and supporting our catering assistants on shift, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver a high-quality service.
  • Maintaining Compliance: You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with food safety and health & safety procedures, ensuring that our residents receive a safe and healthy meal service.
  • Minimising Waste: You will be responsible for minimising waste when preparing meals and using equipment correctly, ensuring that our environmental impact is minimised.
Requirements
  • Intermediate or Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate: You will need to hold an intermediate or level 3 food hygiene certificate with Cater Craft or a similar award.
  • Health & Safety Legislation: You will need to have knowledge of health & safety legislation, including control of substances harmful to health (COSHH) and food safety standards.
  • Proven Chef and People Management Experience: You will need to have proven experience as a chef and people manager, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Basic Knowledge of Dietary Requirements: You will need to have basic knowledge of dietary requirements relating to older people.
  • Safe Use of Kitchen Equipment: You will need to have the ability to use kitchen equipment safely, including knives.
Skills and Qualities
  • Negotiation and Influencing Skills: You will need to have the ability to negotiate and influence others, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to Work in a Pressured Environment: You will need to be able to work in a pressured environment, with the ability to produce meals based on implemented menus.
  • Flexibility and Innovation: You will need to be flexible and innovative, with the ability to work as part of a team and individually.
