About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Midwife to lead our established Barkantine Team as Team Leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and developing services that are personalized to the needs of pregnant women and their babies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective leadership within the group practice model of care working in partnership with the community teams and all clinical areas.
  • Work collaboratively with other multi-disciplinary team members; contribute to the education and professional development of staff in the acute and primary care setting.
  • Be actively involved in providing clinical care and education to women and their families and provide ongoing support to midwives and GPs caring for pregnant women.
  • Ensure there is ongoing auditing, monitoring, and evaluation of the service provided.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • Mentorship qualification/Practice assessor training
  • BSc or working towards

Desirable

  • MSc or working towards
  • Leadership qualification
  • NIPE Qualification
  • Prescriber

Experience

Essential

  • 2 years post-registration experience with at least 1 year of recent intrapartum experience
  • Experience of Community Midwifery

Desirable

  • Experience of leading a team
  • Experience of change management

Knowledge

Essential

  • Knowledge of current and emerging NHS strategy and policy
  • Ability to offer constructive suggestions for service improvement
  • Effectively carries out tasks related to evaluating services.
  • Understanding and rising to the challenges quality improvement and service development
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the maternity team to implement service improvement initiatives
  • Acts in a way that is consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures and abide by the Trust Health and Safety policies
  • Ability to support others in maintaining health, safety, and security
  • Ability to identify and assess the potential risks involved in work activities and processes for self and others
  • Ability to identify how to manage risks and help others manage risks
