About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and expertise in the care of elective orthopaedics patients, both in the inpatient and outpatient settings. They will work closely with the senior medical team to develop and implement clinical policies, protocols, and guidelines, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical advice and support to nursing staff and other healthcare professionals
  • Develop and implement audit and research projects
  • Participate in up-dating and implementing departmental policies, protocols, and guidelines
  • Undertake clinical procedures, including further invasive testing and treatments
  • Request investigations, such as blood, urine, and other laboratory tests, electrocardiographs (ECGs), ultrasound scans, X-Rays, and computed tomography (CT) scans
  • Analyse multiple sources of data, including patient history, physical examination, and investigation findings, to make diagnoses, clinical judgments, and evaluate care provided
  • Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately in complex, urgent, and emergency situations
  • Prescribe and review medication for therapeutic effectiveness
  • Integrate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment in patient care/management plans
  • Assess patients with mental health needs and refer to the appropriate services
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, colleagues, and others using appropriate communication styles
Requirements
  • RGN/HCPC Registered professional
  • MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice
  • Qualification in Advanced Assessment Skills with evidence of clinical practice
  • Registered independent non-medical prescriber
  • Teaching qualification
