The ARM Energy Division is currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Handling Systems Specialist to join a world-leading nuclear defense client based out of Devonport dockyard in Plymouth. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the generation of 3D models, 2D CAD drawings, and BOMs, as well as maintaining and updating project registers of technical queries, change requests, design review requests, and design review actions.

Job Overview:

The client provides major new or upgraded dock, berth, and building infrastructure projects to support ship and submarine sustainment programs. As a Mechanical Handling Systems Specialist, you will work closely with the principal engineer and project manager to plan activities and determine durations for design tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the conversion of existing design records into a 3D model.
  • Maintain and update project registers of technical queries, change requests, design review requests, and design review actions.
  • Determine durations for design tasks to support the principal engineer and project manager in planning activities.
  • Work closely with the principal engineer and project manager to ensure timely completion of projects.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of engineering works, e.g., mechanical handling, mechanical or electrical systems/services.
  • A knowledge of cranes is not essential but desirable.
  • Experience of mechanical design is essential, including new or modification to structures and systems, covering concept, detail design, implementation, and commissioning.
  • Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor or similar software to oversee and support the production of models and drawings of mechanical components.

About the Role:

This is a contract role, expected to last for 12 months, offering a competitive salary of £70 per hour. The role requires occasional travel to Devonport dockyard, with one day on-site every six weeks.
