About the Opportunity

OCU Group, a leading utility engineering contractor in the UK, is seeking an experienced Senior SHEQ Manager to join our team. This role offers a unique chance to work with a dynamic and growing company that prioritizes employee development and career progression.

Job Overview
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing health, safety, quality, and environmental aspects that impact the business, including reporting and meeting with the SHEQ team and customers.
  • This role involves advising on potential legislative changes, conducting audits and inspections, providing SHEQ information and guidance, setting achievable standards, recognizing the need for training, and liaising with clients.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement effective systems arrangements for ensuring a safe workplace and suitable welfare facilities.
  • Produce, review, and update project-specific execution plans, communicating their requirements to all project personnel.
  • Review, maintain, and amend safe systems of work to ensure they are safe and without risk to health.
  • Evaluate and improve project personnel's experience, training, and knowledge to ensure they can carry out assigned duties.
  • Recommend necessary training for project personnel, focusing on new and young personnel involved in high-risk activities.
  • Evaluate and improve toolbox training provided to project personnel.
  • Review completed activities and risk assessments, making recommendations for improvement based on lessons learned.
Essential Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in health, safety, quality, and environmental management.
  • Proven track record of improving SHEQ performance and compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
