We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Manager to join our team at Abco Kovex UK in a field-based role covering the South of England.
Job Purpose:
This role aims to achieve and exceed regional sales and margin budgets and manage customer relationships in the relevant geographical area.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial
- Develop and implement business plans for customer portfolios to achieve annual sales and margin targets in conjunction with the Sales Director.
- Drive business growth by achieving the business plan.
- Collaborate with Credit Control to ensure customers comply with terms and conditions of trading.
Sales
- Manage a portfolio of customers and provide field support for team members with larger accounts.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the portfolio and increase margin through:
- Prospecting new customers and regaining lost business.
- Range extensions.
- Working with suppliers and own brand offerings.
- Monitor sales performance and activity levels and produce monthly reports detailing key result areas.
- Maintain accurate records on clients and sales activities. Produce reports as required to the management team for review and complete any customer reporting within required timescales.
Customer Service
- Maintain and grow existing customer relationships by regular interaction to achieve agreed financial targets (sales and margin).
- Regularly call on customers to provide quotes and ensure that enquiries and issues are followed up in a timely manner.
- Maintain price files and advise customers of increases, managing expectations to ensure business is retained.
Health and Safety
- Consider EHS implications of any sales for operational staff.
- Maintain company-provided vehicles in a roadworthy condition, ensuring they reflect positively on the company image.
- Drive in accordance with the Highway Code at all times.
- Follow identified safe working practices.
Requirements:
- 3 to 5 years' field sales experience would be a distinct advantage.
- Proven track record of growing existing business and identifying and developing new business opportunities.
- Previous experience in packaging sales or a relevant field would be an advantage.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Personal Attributes:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
- Drive and determination to succeed.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and to work on your own initiative.
- Flexibility in working duties and areas of work.
