Job Title: Adult Audiologist

We are seeking a qualified Adult Audiologist to join our team at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering comprehensive diagnostic and rehabilitative services for adults.

Main Duties:
  • Undertake full Audiological assessments of patients, including complex cases with multiple disabilities and severe communication difficulties.
  • Carry out examination of the ear by Otoscopy to identify anatomy, abnormalities, or pathology.
  • Take medical histories of patients referred from primary care to exclude pathologies requiring a medical opinion.
  • Holistically obtain history, including assessment of disability, handicap, and expectations.
  • Accurately fit digital hearing aids to patients, including those with additional needs.
  • Evaluate hearing aid fitting using real ear/probe microphone measurements and aided outcome measure tools.
  • Follow-up to enable fine tuning of digital hearing aids and onward referral to other specialist services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide counselling to patients/carers regarding hearing deficit and management options.
  • Maintain and perform repairs on hearing aids and ear moulds.
  • Provide expert advice to other staff, ENT consultants, and others.

Person Specification:

  • BSc or PTP in Audiology or BAAT parts I & II or equivalent.
  • Registration with Health Professions Council / RCCP (or working towards registration).
  • Competent in managing Adult diagnostic and rehabilitative caseload.
  • Aware of all current UK Audiology guidance including NICE.
  • Knowledge of health service practices and understanding of clinical governance.

Desirable:

  • Post qualification experience working in an adult audiology department.
  • Competent at carrying out a full range of audiological testing.
  • Takes responsibility for own actions and promotes good team working.
