Job Details

Ormiston Meridian Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their Learning Support Team/SEND department. The successful candidate will work closely with students with learning difficulties, disabilities, and other barriers to their learning in mainstream classes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish supportive relationships with students to promote academic success and well-being.
  • Support students with SEND needs on a 1:1 basis outside of the classroom, as well as in small groups and whole-class settings.
  • Work collaboratively with subject staff, students, and the SENCO to develop and implement effective learning strategies.
  • Liaise with other professionals and outside agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students.
  • Contribute to the delivery and adaptation of the curriculum for students with SEND needs.
  • Attend meetings and in-service training days as necessary to stay up-to-date with best practices.
Requirements
  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above, or equivalent qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy Professional Skills.
  • Functional Skills Level 3.
  • Must hold or be willing to work towards a Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Awareness of strategies to support students with various SEND needs.
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a team, demonstrating initiative and flexibility.
  • Positive role model in the Academy community, with well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to positively manage behaviour and focus learners on tasks in a positive manner.
