Your Role

As an Educational Support Specialist at Activate Learning, you will possess experience in assisting young individuals or adults facing a variety of severe, complex, and moderate learning challenges and/or disabilities and/or behavioral needs.

You will be someone with the resilience and patience necessary to foster independence in learners, encouraging them to take greater ownership of their educational journey.
Educational Support Specialists provide crucial assistance to educators within the classroom and support staff across our campuses. A collaborative working style and the ability to function effectively as part of a team are essential.

Your primary responsibilities will include aiding students during their classroom lessons and facilitating self-directed study sessions on a one-on-one basis. In addition to a student's academic program, you may also be implementing a tailored learning plan to support their development in life skills, independence, and employability.

You will be equipped to support students with Autism and related challenges, some of which may be intricate. Strong communication skills are necessary to collaborate with tutors, ensuring the effective delivery of educational programs and working cohesively within a coordination team.

Personal care may be part of your responsibilities, and training will be provided for medical care and support as needed.

What You Need to Succeed as an Educational Support Specialist at Activate Learning

To excel in this role, you should:

• Be proficient in IT applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

• Have a creative approach to engaging learners and an innovative method for delivering support.

• Previous experience in a further education setting is advantageous but not mandatory.

• Hold a Level 3 Support Assistant qualification or equivalent, though this is not a strict requirement.

A GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English is essential for this position; however, if you do not possess these qualifications, opportunities to achieve them are available within Activate Learning.
