Role Overview

As an Educational Support Specialist at Activate Learning, you will possess experience working with individuals, whether young or adult, who face a variety of severe, complex, and moderate learning challenges and/or disabilities and/or behavioral needs.

You will be someone with the resilience and patience necessary to foster independence in learners and to motivate them to take greater ownership of their educational journey.
Educational Support Specialists provide crucial assistance to educators within the classroom and support to staff across our campuses, making it vital that you have a collaborative working style and the ability to function effectively as part of a team.

Your primary responsibilities will include aiding students during their classroom lessons and facilitating self-directed study sessions on a one-on-one basis. In addition to a student's educational program, the Educational Support Specialist may also implement a tailored learning plan to enhance their life skills, independence, and employability.

You will be equipped to support students with Autism and related challenges, some of which may be intricate. Strong communication skills are essential to collaborate with educators to ensure the effective delivery of a comprehensive educational program and to work as part of a coordination team.

Personal care responsibilities may be included in this role, and training will be provided for medical care and support.

What Qualifications Are Needed to Excel as an Educational Support Specialist at Activate Learning?

As an Educational Support Specialist, you will:

• Be proficient and skilled in IT applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

• Exhibit a creative approach to engaging learners and an innovative method for delivering support.

• Previous experience in a further education setting would be beneficial, though not mandatory.

• Hold a Level 3 Support Assistant qualification or its equivalent, though this is not a strict requirement.

A GCSE or equivalent qualification in Maths and English is necessary for this position; however, if you do not possess this, opportunities to obtain a Maths and English qualification are available within Activate Learning.
