Job Summary
Academics Ltd is seeking a highly motivated and empathetic Learning Support Assistant to join our team in Reading, Berkshire. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) and a range of social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide emotional support and pastoral care to students with complex needs
- Identify and overcome learning barriers, promoting self-esteem, social skills, and emotional resilience
- Implement positive behaviour strategies in collaboration with the class teacher and multi-therapy teams
- Motivate students to make informed choices and develop a growth mindset
- Contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment, promoting consistency and equity
Requirements
- Graduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Psychology, Sociology, Counselling, or Criminology)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
- Knowledge of child development, learning theories, and behaviour management strategies
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced educational setting
