Job Title: Aspiring Counsellor - Learning Support Assistant

Academics is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team in Reading. As an Aspiring Counsellor, you will play a vital role in supporting vulnerable students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.

About the Role:

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students, teachers, and multi-therapy teams to identify and cater to individual needs. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing emotional support and building self-esteem in students
  • Implementing positive behaviour strategies and motivating students to make informed choices
  • Assisting students with special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional, and mental health challenges
  • Collaborating with the class teacher and multi-therapy teams to develop and implement individualised support plans
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of child development and psychology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced setting
