Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team at Panasonic Automotive Systems Europe. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and evaluating electrical systems for new models, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and liaising with other areas of R&D.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop electrical systems from concept to mass production, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and liaising with other areas of R&D.
  • Critically evaluate design proposals and participate in peer review meetings, developing test procedures to validate designs.
  • Work with other teams to deliver products into production, liaising with customers and suppliers to work towards a common goal.
  • Provide evidence that relevant customer, regional, and general product safety directives are considered where appropriate.
  • Apply technical knowledge to investigate, identify, and implement countermeasures and improvements to resolve issues and coordinate development issues.
  • Manage the delivery of electrical systems at trial stages and into production, controlling and monitoring costs, quality of designs, risks, and progress throughout the project.
  • Consider historic problems and endeavour to eradicate them from future designs.
  • Ensure development builds are according to agreed schedules, supporting with components and assembly house queries.
  • Support the Project Leader to ensure cost requirements for electrical aspects of developments are available when required.
  • Support the Project Leader to create and maintain project plans/schedules for electrical aspects of developments.
  • Support the Project and Team Leader to ensure relevant project-based AQ and R&D documents are completed in line with required processes.
  • Provide information for the weekly project update, providing updates on any new or ongoing issues, including appropriate responses and actions being taken.
  • Provide necessary information for technical and strategic meetings and attend/contribute to relevant development meetings, both internal and external.
  • Consider and research new technology to improve and implement new R&D systems/processes, ensuring efficient product development and future improvement to product development.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the Electrical team with the technical aspect of their work.

Requirements

  • Degree-level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering plus 3 years relevant industry experience, or at least 5 years relevant industry experience in a similar role.
  • Electrical and EMC testing in a design environment and of fault finding to component level.
  • PCB design tools (Zuken CR0 preferably) and Circuit simulation tools.
  • Analogue/Digital Design.
  • Design for Manufacturing - Experience in designing electronics circuits and taking the design from concept to mass production.
  • Dealing with sub-contractor assembly houses.
  • Design for EMC/ESD and noisy environments.
  • Knowledge of project management processes.
  • Soldering and de-soldering (including surface mount components).
  • Excellent knowledge of electrical and electronic circuit theory.
  • Hands-on experience of using electrical and electronic test equipment and tools.
  • Must be an effective team player with a flexible attitude and good communication skills.
  • Self-starting with good initiative and able to demonstrate a methodical approach to tasks, with a view to developing own ideas and solutions.
  • High-level problem-solving skills with the ability to efficiently resolve technical issues.
  • This role will involve some physical manual handling.
  • Must have a valid driving license.
  • Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel internationally.
