Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team at Panasonic Automotive Systems Europe. As a key member of our R&D department, you will be responsible for designing and developing new electrical systems for our automotive products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new electrical systems for our automotive products, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Critically evaluate design proposals and participate in peer review meetings to ensure high-quality designs.
  • Develop test procedures to validate designs and identify potential issues.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide evidence that relevant customer, regional, and product safety directives are considered in design decisions.
  • Apply technical expertise to investigate and resolve complex issues, including evaluation failures and changes in requirements.
  • Assess and consider historic problems to prevent their recurrence in future designs.
  • Support the development of project plans and schedules, ensuring timely completion of electrical and electronic aspects of projects.
  • Collaborate with the project team to ensure relevant project-based AQ and R&D documents are completed in line with required processes.
  • Consider new technology to improve and implement new R&D systems and processes, ensuring efficient product development.
  • Provide information for weekly project updates and attend relevant development meetings.
  • Mentor and support other members of the R&D department with technical aspects of their work.

Requirements

  • Degree-level qualification in an engineering or business-based discipline, plus 5 years of relevant industry experience, or at least 5 years of relevant industry experience in a similar role.
  • High level of experience in electrical and EMC testing in a design environment and fault finding to component level.
  • High level of experience of PCB design tools (Zuken CR0 preferably) and circuit simulation tools.
  • Highly experienced in designing electronics circuits and taking the design from concept to mass production.
  • Dealing with sub-contractor assembly houses.
  • Design for EMC/ESD and noisy environments.
  • Knowledge and experience of project management processes.
  • Experience of soldering and de-soldering (including surface mount components).
  • Excellent knowledge and experience of electrical and electronic circuit theory.
  • Hands-on experience of using electrical and electronic test equipment and tools.
  • Must be an effective team player with a flexible attitude and good communication skills.
  • Experience of leading a team of engineers/technicians.
  • Self-starting with good initiative and able to demonstrate a methodical approach to tasks, with a view to developing own ideas and solutions.
  • High level of problem-solving skills with the ability to efficiently resolve technical issues.
  • Knowledge of PMUK Home Appliance products would be desirable.
  • This role will involve some physical manual handling.
  • Must have a valid driving license.
  • Must hold a valid passport and be willing to travel internationally.
