About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations Specialist to join our team at Brainkind. As an Employee Relations Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting our people managers in all aspects of employee relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advice and case management across the organisation for disciplinary, grievance, and formal capability/performance, long-term absence, and AWOL issues, working in accordance with employment law, best practice, and people policies and procedures.
  • Escalate more complex ER cases as necessary to the ER Manager.
  • Support the upskilling of all people managers on disciplinary and grievance procedures and their roles and responsibilities within the process.
  • Provide clear ongoing guidance to managers on their role and responsibilities within a process.
  • Attend formal hearings if and where necessary, to provide advice as required and to support managers to finalise outcomes that are robust.
  • Conduct some of the more complex investigations and report the evidence and mitigation to enable relevant personnel to assess and determine a resolution within a defined timescale.
  • Prepare thorough, accurate, objective, and concise investigation reports in accordance with the approved format, ensuring that all supporting evidence is complete, and concluding with a recommendation as to whether a disciplinary case should follow.
  • Report on case volumes, case status, and trends and update People Business Partners on cases within their regions that are more complex or considerable risk in nature.
  • Where ETs arise, support with the collation of bundles and defence against claims.
  • Support People Business Partners with restructuring projects, redundancies, and TUPE situations where required.
Requirements
  • Educated to degree/comparable NVQ level or equivalent.
  • Proven experience of working in a HR/ER Advisor role.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice and ability to practically implement.
  • Proven relevant experience conducting employment investigations, including grievance, disciplinary, and attendance management.
  • Experience of advising on a wide range of HR matters, including all ER issues from disciplinaries and grievances to attendance management.
  • Experience in dealing with restructures, redundancy, and TUPE situations.
  • Ability to and/or experience of reviewing HR policies and procedures.
