About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to join our team at Barclays Bank PLC. As a key member of our software development team, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and improving software solutions that provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Software Development: Develop high-quality software solutions using industry-aligned programming languages, frameworks, and tools. Ensure that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements, devise solution strategies, and ensure seamless integration and alignment with business objectives.
  • Code Reviews: Participate in code reviews and promote a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
  • Technical Excellence: Stay informed of industry technology trends and innovations and actively contribute to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
  • Secure Coding Practices: Adhere to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
  • Unit Testing: Implement effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.

  • Consultation: Consult on complex issues and provide advice to People Leaders to support the resolution of escalated issues.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify ways to mitigate risk and develop new policies/procedures in support of the control and governance agenda.
  • Control Strengthening: Take ownership for managing risk and strengthening controls in relation to the work done.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with other areas of work to keep up to speed with business activity and the business strategy.
  • Complex Analysis: Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources of information, internal and external sources, to solve problems creatively and effectively.
  • Communication: Communicate complex information to stakeholders and influence or convince them to achieve outcomes.
