Commercial SME Underwriter

At Superscript, we're seeking a skilled Commercial SME Underwriter to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you'll play a crucial role in evaluating and analysing insurance applications for SMEs, ensuring that they meet our risk appetite and maintain profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and analyse insurance applications from SMEs to determine the risk level and appropriate premium pricing.
- Underwrite new and renewal SME commercial insurance policies in line with company guidelines, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Approve or decline insurance applications based on risk assessment, underwriting guidelines, and company policy.
- Communicate with our sales team to gather necessary information, clarify details, and explain underwriting decisions.
- Monitor and manage the performance of the SME insurance portfolio to ensure profitability and growth.
About You:
- 3-5 years experience in commercial underwriting, preferably within the UK SME market.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to assess risk and make informed decisions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex underwriting decisions clearly and effectively.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly in documentation and data analysis.
