The Role:

As a Groundsman Apprentice, you'll work closely with our experienced Grounds Team Leader and the broader grounds maintenance team to perform a variety of essential tasks. Your role will involve maintaining and enhancing outdoor spaces, ensuring the grounds are presented to the highest standards. You'll receive comprehensive training to ensure you adhere to all health, safety, and environmental practices, making you a valuable asset to our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Grounds Maintenance: Ensure that site grounds are maintained and presented to the highest possible standards using a range of machinery, equipment, and techniques. Perform all aspects of grounds preparation, including mowing, seeding, weeding, and spraying. Prune trees in line with the site plan, remove dead wood, and chip as necessary. Maintain neighbouring borders by strimming, weeding, and spraying as needed.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance of grounds equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Health & Safety: Adhere to all health and safety standards and comply with company policies and procedures. Work safely, efficiently, and effectively at all times.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with grounds operatives as part of a team. Operate independently when required, managing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Fleet Support: Assist with the maintenance of the DCS fleet, ensuring vehicles remain in roadworthy condition.
  • Site Management: Ensure all external areas of hygiene are maintained to a very high standard. Distribute deliveries received on site as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Essential: English & Maths GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent qualifications.
