We are a world-leading research-intensive environment, committed to advancing knowledge and understanding in nuclear physics. Our team is seeking an exceptional individual to join us as a Senior Experimental Equipment Specialist.

In this role, you will be responsible for providing expert technical and engineering support to our researchers and students, contributing to the delivery of our cutting-edge research programs. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from the design and development of new experimental equipment to the maintenance and upgrade of existing facilities.

To succeed in this role, you will require a high degree of technical expertise, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A relevant university degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate engineering or science subject, or significant vocational experience in a technical or engineering role, preferably within the Higher Education sector, is essential.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical and engineering support to the Nuclear Physics Research Group
  • Design, manufacture, and maintain laboratory apparatus and equipment
  • Collaborate with staff and students to engage directly with the design, manufacture, construction, and commissioning of experimental scientific equipment and laboratory apparatus
  • Develop and implement innovative solutions to complex engineering problems
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of work completed
