About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Learning Support Specialist. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or disabilities, particularly those with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEN and/or disabilities, focusing on their academic and social development.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized learning plans.
  • Use your initiative to solve problems and adapt to changing situations, ensuring the best possible outcomes for our students.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to support students with SEMH needs, including de-escalation techniques and crisis management.

Requirements:

  • Experience of working with children or adults with SEN and/or disabilities, particularly those with SEMH needs.
  • High expectations of students' progress, attainment, and behavior.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and good time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviors and attitudes.
