Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our team as a Learning Assistant.

About the Role

We are a pupil referral unit based on a small school site in North Dorset, providing an education setting for pupils who require alternative support due to various challenges. Our goal is to foster a positive and inclusive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students in their academic and personal development, focusing on building self-belief and self-esteem.
  • Work closely with teachers and other support staff to develop personalized learning plans, addressing knowledge gaps and promoting engagement.
  • Provide tailored support to students, including KS3 short-term placements and KS4 tailored programs.
  • Assist in creating a safe and supportive environment, encouraging positive relationships and behaviors.

Requirements

  • Experience in working with children or adults with SEMH needs, or related fields such as youth work, psychology, or mental health support.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively.
  • Patience, empathy, and a sense of humor, with a commitment to making a positive difference in young people's lives.
