Job Title: Head of Technical

Bellway Homes is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Technical to join our Scotland West Division. As a key member of our senior management team, you will be responsible for leading and managing our technical function to deliver a practical and cost-effective technical service to the Division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the technical team to ensure best practices are followed, costs are controlled, and the department maximises revenue generation and contribution to the Division's operating profit.
  • Advise the land department on the technical viability of new sites and ensure planning permissions and other statutory approvals are obtained in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the technical department procedures, layouts, and technical reports for land appraisals and required working drawings are prepared to the agreed schedule.
  • Liaise with the Commercial teams to ensure all activities are delivered to the agreed time/cost/specification.
  • Monitor that external consultants are briefed and managed on the preparation and issue of production information in accordance with their appointment and to an agreed programme.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience working at a senior level within the housebuilding industry as either a Head of Technical/Technical Director or equivalent.
  • A good level of knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety/CDM Regulations, LABC/NHBC requirements, Building Regulations, Planning System, Codes of Practice, Party Wall Awards, and other associated legislation connected with both house and flat construction.
  • Qualifications and Training: Qualified as a Civil/Building Engineer, Architecture, or Construction-related degree level or HNC/HND in a built environment subject with relevant experience.
  • CSCS card or equivalent.
  • Current full UK driving licence.
